Day 82

Temptation
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it" 1 Corinthians 10:13.
We each have our individual weaknesses. I may have no desire to succomb to yours nor you to mine. We are wise if we discover what that weakness is in our life. Could it be an addiction, pride, gossip, pornography, a foul mouth or jealousy, just to name a few?
God said He would make a way out of the temptation that so easily besets us, but we have a part in that also. We can say, "That's just the way way I am" or we can agree with God it is a sin that has to be dealt with head on.
It may take repenting and turning the other way and it may be seeking Christian counsel, but we have a responsibility to sort it all out so we don't continue to fall in the same trap time and again. The enemy wants us to believe we can't accomplish the task but chose to believe that with God ALL things are possible.
Temptation is a strong urge or desire to have to do something; something that causes a strong urge or desire to have or do something and especially something that is bad, wrong, or unwise. What is your strong urge today?
May your desires be only towards God and all things holy and pure. Our passage says God is faithful and will make a way to escape every temptation. Do you believe Him? Nail your urges to the cross and leave them there. Step out in faith one moment at a time, one day at a time. Practice saying NO to the things that have had you bound for years and say YES to God and His direction for you. It may be time to get serious in your relationship with Him.
