Transformation
“For our earthly bodies, the ones we have now that can die, must be transformed into heavenly bodies that cannot perish but will live forever.” I Corinthians 15.53 The Living Bible
When abused animals are featured on TV my husband turns the channel because we hate to see the condition of the abused. But recently I was compelled to watch as a horse was rescued. The horse was literally a skeleton. He could not get enough strength to stand on his feet. I watched as he was taken in, fed, loved, and encouraged to stand up day after day. Finally the day came that he stood without the harness under him. He eventually walked and then ran.
The story made me think of our prodigals, emaciated by drug use. Many have given up on them, leaving them for dead or at least believing they will never change. But what would it look like if we took them in and fed them on the Word of God so they could eventually stand on their own? Praise the Lord we have witnessed this transformation many times. When others give the prodigal up for dead, let’s choose to take them in and nourish them so that they can stand on their own in Christ.
