“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.” Hebrews 10:36
My husband and I often walk to a restaurant about three miles from our home. Some days we have to encourage each other to keep going. The promise is a meal and a drink at the end of the journey. We keep reminding ourselves we can do it. Oftentimes there are obstacles along the way, hills to climb, heat to endure, cars to avoid, or sprinklers to walk around.
Life is much the same, there are hard, painful things but we have the promises of God that he walks with us. We will receive the promise or the reward if we endure to the end of the journey. In my Bible, I have written: “Persevere, stick with it until either your prayer is answered or the burden is lifted.” We can intercede for others when the sufferings of others become so painful to us that we plead for them as if we are pleading for ourselves.
Are you persevering in faith and prayer for your prodigal today? There will be obstacles but they are worth overcoming to get the promises of God. Persevere.
